During the weeks before and after half term, a range of post-16 education and training providers delivered a series of virtual presentations to Year 11. As the year group begin to explore their options for when they leave TIFS, every pupil had the opportunity to engage with guest speakers from the establishments to which they are interested in applying.
There were talks from a variety of sixth forms focusing on the A-Level route, both island and mainland based, including insights into Scholarship opportunities with independent schools. We are delighted that all island sixth forms were able to share with our pupils, as well as Brockenhurst, Havant & South Downs, and Richard Taunton Colleges.
Additionally, vocational colleges and training providers gave detailed presentations about the advanced and intermediate technical qualifications on offer, including the IW College, CECAMM, Platform One, UKSA and Sparsholt College in Winchester.
Pupils were also able to attend sessions exploring the apprenticeship and employment routes after GCSE. We welcomed representatives from HTP Apprenticeship College and the armed forces (Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Army) to provide information to those pupils who are considering these pathways.
Pupils found the wide array of virtual assemblies engaging and informative. It was a pleasure to hear from past TIFS pupils in some of the presentations, who were able to relate to our Year 11s on a more personal level.
If any Year 11 pupils would like further information or contacts for a provider, they are welcome to speak to the Year Team or the Careers Team.
