Mr Lucas Suter

Teacher of PE & Mathematics

Mr. Suter joined us in September 2020 and, having been born and raised on the Island, is incredibly proud to be teaching at The Island Free School. After completing his three-year degree in Sport & Exercise Science, he was eager to return home and inspire the next generation of students through his passion for Physical Education. Sport has always played a major role in Mr. Suter’s life, shaping his love for physical activity and the outdoors. He enjoys a wide range of sports, including basketball, football, and badminton, as well as any activities in the water. His passion for health and performance extends beyond sport, with a particular interest in nutrition, which became the focus of his University Undergraduate Dissertation.

Outside of school, Mr. Suter enjoys exploring the Island on long dog walks and working on various DIY projects in his spare time.

Experience

Mr Suter completed his education at Sandown High School and Sandown Bay Academy Sixth form, gaining a Distinction* in Sport & Exercise Science and an A Level in Graphic Design.

He then completed his degree at the University of Winchester in Sport & Exercise Science. Mr Suter then went on to earn his PGCE in Secondary Physical Education at the University of Chichester.

My Goals

My goal is to promote pupils’ well-being through sport and help them understand both the physical and mental benefits of Physical Education.
I am also committed to supporting pupils in making as much progress as possible in GCSE PE, inspiring them to pursue a passion for a career in sport.
