Year 7 Hampshire Hockey Tournament

On Sunday, Mr Milton and Miss Fraser took pupils from Year 7 to attend the U12 7-a-side Hampshire Hockey Championships in Haslemere, to experience competitive hockey for the first time against some well-established mainland teams.

Although nervous to begin with, the girls got stuck in and some great defensive displays from Bella M, Summer G and goalkeeper Neeve T meant they came away from the first two matches versus Trojans and Camberley & Farnham with 0-0 scorelines. If they could produce a result against New Forest they would advance to the knockout stages.

Unfortunately, despite Tilly K, Marika A, Dee S-B, Kaitlin M and Jess B displaying some fantastic skills and speed, pre-tournament favourites New Forest proved to be too much of a challenge and ran out 3-0 winners.

Results from the other teams matches meant the Island girls would be unable to advance to the semi-finals, but they should be very proud of their efforts in what is sure to be a fast-improving group of future hockey stars.
