TIFS Trail-blazers!

Saturday saw our first group of TIFS trail runners travel to the New Forest to run in the Maverick Inov8 Hampshire event, supported by Mrs Steele, Miss White and Mr Boyd. Pupils picked either a 6km or 13km route and were running in an open field with mainly adult competitors. For many this was their first event and they ran fantastically. For the 6km runners Maisey K (Year 7) was the overall winner of the women’s race followed by Ella G (Year 9) in fifth place. For the men’s race, Sam F (Year 8) came first in his age group and third overall, narrowly beating Finley L in fourth. Huge congratulations also to the other 6km runners, Noah D, Dylan W, Harvey J and Charlie N, who all finished in the top 30 – a fantastic achievement!

For the 13km events, Curtis P (Year 9) came first in his age category closely followed by Reef W in year 8 and Aaron EL. A great effort over this longer distance.

Well done also to Mrs Steele and Miss White, who came in joint 6th overall and joint 2nd females, and Mr Boyd who finished 4th overall.

The pupils’ performance was praised by event organisers and we would like to thank Maverick events for making us feel so welcome. We are immensely proud of the pupils who took part and cannot wait to continue trail running as part of the summer enrichment programme.
