TIFS Armistice

With Remembrance Day falling on a weekend this year, today we observed a 2 minute silence at 11am as a mark of respect for the fallen soldiers of war. Silas B has been selling poppies for the Royal British Legion all week in preparation for the day, and the pupils in Origami enrichment have created some spectacular paper wreaths. This morning, Year 10 welcomed Mr Peace’s grandfather, George Lyons, to their assembly. Mr Lyons retold captivating stories and shared many memories of his experience of the Second World War. At 11am, the whole school observed a 2 minute silence which was signalled to a close by the sound of the Last Post, played by Ted H and Isobelle W on their trumpets. It was a very apt and moving way to honour Armistice Day.
