The Island Free School at the Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival!

What a fantastic time pupils had at this years IWMDDF! Some amazing success was had across all of the music classes.

Building on the success of last Sunday and Wednesday’s vocal classes, Thursday saw some winners from TIFS in the vocal solo and duet classes.
Abbie R came first in the set song class with her beautiful rendition of Shenandoah. She was closely followed by Thea M, Francesca T and Niamh B in a closely contested competition.

Ada KS and Emily C came first in the set song duet ‘Ash Grove’ with some beautiful synchronised harmonies and blended voices.

The Island Free School Choir sung wonderfully in the choir class placing third against stiff competition.

Last week it was the turn of the instrumental classes.
Victor S stormed first place in the brass class playing ‘Tuba Power’ closely followed by Nathan SB and James W in second and third place.
Ada KS won first place in one woodwind class with Nadia B closely on her heels.
Bianka A was victorious in the older woodwind class after playing a magnificent tango. Mille K and Emily D played beautifully in this class also.
Alfred J gave a magnificent first placed performance in the senior woodwind class with Hallam S closely matching him.

The Island Free School Brass Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble played extraordinarily well both winning the cup in their classes and attracting much admiration from the adjudicator.

The piano classes followed on Friday with perfect performances from Izzy S who placed first and from Ronny M, Millie F, Frida H, Josephine F, Beth B, Emily D, Grace P, Freya F, Zara M and Ada KS.

Well done to all!

This week it is the turn of our dancers. They will be performing as part of their dance and ballet groups – best of luck to all of them!
