Intergenerational Project Presentation
Last Thursday saw the culmination of a year long project/collaboration between The Island Free School, the Isle of Wight Heritage Service, and Carisbrooke Castle Museum. Its aim was to bring the young and older generations together, with our pupils interviewing people as old as 98(!) using museum objects as reminiscence tools. These memories were then used to produce a film, book and website.
The pupils were truly a credit to our school, and the film was a fantastic insight into the work that the children put into the project. Guests were also treated to a performance from TIFS Jazz Band.
One guest said, “How lucky they were to have such fun activities to take part in and such amazing opportunities to influence the end product and master new skills. I wish school had been like that when I was their age!”
Well done to Mrs Boyd, Mrs Peace and Mr Williams for helping to co-ordinate this project, and a huge thank you to Carisbrooke Castle Museum, IOW Heritage and finally to the pupils that took part.
