Southampton 7-a-side Hockey Festival

A squad of 11 girls from Years 8 and 9 travelled to a very cold, but thankfully rain free, Southampton Sports Centre last Friday, 8th November, to compete in the annual 7-a-side competition. This particular tournament attracts most of the top Hockey playing schools from across Hampshire and this year was no exception with 16 teams entered.
Split into two pools of 8 the TIFS team played 7 games, winning one, drawing three and losing three all by the closest of margins. Despite not reaching the semi-finals they should all be very proud of their efforts, especially in the fact that they conceded the fewest number of goals of any team there!

Defensively they were superb, but the numerous chances they created in attack just couldn’t quite make it past the goal line.

All in all it was a very enjoyable and worthwhile day with each player contributing to the overall team performance.

Many thanks to Mr Milton for his support on the day and Mr Cole for umpiring all 7 matches.

Next Friday (15/11/19) it will be the turn of the U16 team and the following Friday (22/11/19) the U13s will be competing.
