Timetables and Bus Passes
Please click here to view the most up to date school bus timetables. Timetables for the 2018/19 academic year will be published once confirmed.
For all school bus services, pupils must have their tickets ready for presentation to the driver for every journey; without a valid pass they may be refused travel in the afternoon. If this occurs, they are to return to the school so that parents/guardians can make arrangements to collect them.
For local authority buses (502,503,330) temporary tickets can only be issued for one journey if a ticket is forgotten, but it is the responsibility of the pupil to get this from the school office before the end of the day. If a ticket has been lost, a replacement must be purchased for £10.00, without this payment a temporary pass cannot be issued.
For TIFS buses (500,501,504) a new bus pass may be purchased from the school office or via Wisepay for £2.
BUS APPLICATIONS FOR 2018-2019 ACADEMIC YEAR
The application window for school transport for September 2018 opens at 9am on Monday 9th July until 5pm on Friday 20th July.
These services are run by the Isle of Wight Council. If The Island Free School is your closest school or on an unsafe route, your child may be eligible for free home to school transport on one of these services. If you are in receipt of certain benefits you may also be eligible for free transport. Pupils who have previously been entitled to free transport on the 502/503/330 will automatically receive a bus pass in September and you do not need to reapply. If your child has previously received free school transport due to low income and is in receipt of free school meals, you do not need to reapply. Low income families who receive free transport based on tax credits must reapply. Please click here to make an application for a free bus pass. If you are unsure whether your child qualifies for free travel, please contact School Admissions directly on firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01983 823455.
If your child does not qualify for free transport, you can apply for a privilege seat on one of these services for a termly fee. Please click here for more information on making an application. Please note, you still need to make a new application for a privilege seat if your child has been using one of these services for the current academic year.
The School Transport team at the IW Council can be contacted directly on (01983) 823780.
Please complete the form below to apply for a seat on the 500/501/504 bus. If you have more than one child attending the school, please make a separate application for each child. Once this form has been submitted, the school will allocate seats after the deadline has passed and inform you via email of the outcome of your application. The charge will be calculated termly and payment due on the first week of each term. The exact cost of this service is yet to be finalised, but is expected to be approximately £130 per term, in line with the IW Council’s charges. Please note, you need to make a new application for school transport in September if your child has been using one of our services for the current academic year.
If The Island Free School is your closest school or on an unsafe route, your child may be eligible for free home to school transport on the 501 bus. If you are in receipt of certain benefits you may also be eligible for free transport. Please click here to make an application for a free bus pass. If you are unsure whether your child qualifies for free travel, please contact School Admissions directly on email@example.com or phone 01983 823455. Forms are in addition to this application form.
West Wight Minibus
Please complete the form below to apply for a seat on the West Wight Minibus. If you have more than one child attending the school, please make a separate application for each child. Once this form has been submitted, the school will allocate seats after the deadline has passed and inform you via email of the outcome of your application. We will give priority to children who do not live on an existing school bus route and are therefore unable to access buses provided by the local authority. We will then allocate remaining seats on a lottery basis, and would therefore encourage all parents to also apply for the 502 bus provided by the local authority. To do this, please click here. The charge will be calculated termly and payment due on the first week of each term. Please be aware that there will be a substantial increase in the cost for the minibus to £215 per term. This has been calculated to cover fuel, driver’s wage, qualifications and licensing. This works out as approximately £1.79 per journey per child. Please note, you need to make a new application for a seat on the minibus in September if your child has been using this service for the current academic year.
