Mr Nathan McAllister, Acting Head of Year, Teacher of PE & Mathematics
Mr McAllister was educated on the Island, achieving A Levels in Biology, Mathematics and Physical Education. He then went on to the University of Essex where he achieved an undergraduate degree in Sport & Exercise Science (BSc). Having finished his PGCE in Physical Education, he returned to the Island to join the team at The Island Free School.
Mr McAllister completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education with The University of Chichester and has the distinction of being graded as ‘outstanding’ at both of his teacher training placement schools.
Before embarking on his teaching career Mr McAllister took a gap year to go travelling. During this time he visited New Zealand and South East Asia, experiencing the important role that education and teachers have in improving children’s futures.

A progress measure is a measure of improvement in learning and therefore is a good measure of the impact an individual teacher has had on a pupil or class. Pupils are expected to make a minimum of 3 points’ progress in each subject each year. As part of teacher appraisals we will report on the average progress made by classes taught by each of our teachers. A progress measure of +4 or higher shows good progress and a measure of +6 or higher shows outstanding progress.
