Mr Martyn Davies, Chief Financial Officer & Staff Governor
Martyn trained initially as an accountant before pursuing a career in Building Societies, returning to the Island as a Branch Manager with the Woolwich, before becoming the Local Area Manager for the Portsmouth Building Society.
After a merger with the Cheltenham and Gloucester (now part of Lloyds) Martyn became self-employed as an Independent Financial Advisor until 1996 when he was appointed the Bursar at Ryde School.
This wide ranging role encompassed management of all aspects school of life outside teaching from finance through to cleaning. It also brought heavy involvement in the strategic development of the school and project management of a number of significant building projects.
A strong interest in the provision of high quality education led to a 20 year career at Ryde. Retirement in April 2016 enabled him to move on to a number of part time consultancy/non executive roles, but also voluntary and charitable work.
Martyn is married to Sally, has two adult children and two grandchildren, who, along with his love of sailing, take up most of his time!
