Mr Gareth Balch, Teacher of Music
Mr Balch was educated in Wales, achieving A Levels in Music, English and Computer Science. He then obtained an honours degree in Music from Bangor University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Swansea University, before commencing his teaching career on the Isle of Wight.
Experience
Mr Balch is a committed and enthusiastic Music teacher with extensive experience at both Middle and Secondary schools. He performs regularly as a trumpeter in orchestras and other ensembles and is a published composer with Trinity College, London. This experience has helped when supporting pupils in composing and performing their own music. He has developed and contributed departmental resources that encourage all pupils to engage in creative work. He is passionate about community arts, particularly the Ryde Arts Festival, for which he has written a variety of music.
Mr Balch has a love of live music and believes in offering diverse extracurricular opportunities to young musicians. He is constantly inspired by the development in confidence shown by pupils who are involved in the musical life of the school.
