Island VI Form Visit

As part of the Year 9 careers programme, pupils visited The Island VI Form in Newport last Tuesday. They were given a guided tour, talk and an English taster session. The tour began in the Science department was very interesting, where they saw some previous TIFS pupils dissecting lungs and hearts, and also observed an electrolysis experiment. The pupils in both classes were highly knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions Year 9 had. They then moved on to the Art department, where pupils viewed some incredible work and had the opportunity to speak to pupils taking the subject for A-Level. Finally, the English taster session focused on ‘Jabberwocky’ by Lewis Carroll, and pupils had a short introduction to what English Literature and English Language courses entail. The pupils were assets to the school and behaved impeccably.
