Island Schools Cross Country Relays

On 6th November 2019, Medina College kindly hosted the annual Island Schools Cross Country Relays. It was surprisingly dry but a bitter wind swept the very muddy course making it hard going for all the runners.
TIFS took 32 athletes to compete in this event, with teams of four running one lap each. The standard of running was very high and all TIFS pupils did extremely well to all finish in such demanding conditions. The results were particularly pleasing with the teams finishing as follows:

YEAR 7 GIRLS 1st and 6th out of 11 teams
YEAR 7 BOYS 5th and 7th out of 11 teams
YEAR 8 GIRLS 2nd out of 8 teams
.YEAR 8 BOYS 2nd out of 8 teams
YEAR 9 GIRLS 2nd out of 7 teams

On returning to school, we spoke to some of the pupils about their day:

“We had an amazing experience at cross country” – Year 7 Girls Teams

“At Medina the conditions were very slippery and muddy! It was a very successful running tournament.” – Year 7 Boys Teams

“We tried our best and worked really hard to achieve our personal and team goals. Overall we came second in the relay and had a really exciting day. Thank you to Mr Milton for a fantastic day” – Year 8 Girls Teams

“We put all our efforts out on that field although it was very muddy! The girls enjoyed themselves and worked very well together and supported each other as well as younger years and other schools!” – Year 9 Girls Team
