IOW Zoo Ecology Trip

Year 10 pupils travelled to the IOW Zoo on Wednesday 13th June for a day of ecology and conservation education. The group were met by Tracy Dove, the zoo’s education co-ordinator, who gave an informative talk on general ecology, and relayed to the pupils the differing conservation projects the zoo are working on in Madagascar and India.

Pupils then had the opportunity to explore the zoo, introduce themselves to the resident animals and were given information-finding tasks to complete. The day ended with a guided tour of the zoo where they learned of the unfortunate backgrounds the animals share, and the reasons behind why zoos are still necessary in society today.
