Monday 29th April saw round 1 of the Island Schools Golf League take place at Ventnor Golf Club involving players from TIFS, The Bay and Ryde School.
The weather was on our side with light winds and plenty of sunshine with only a chill towards the end of the game. 3 groups teed off with a total of 10 players all with a positive start, especially Callum C who secured a par on the first hole. He then continued his positive streak gaining a par on the 2nd hole as well, going on to win group 2 with 17 points after 7 holes.
In the first group, Max S-P took control of the game hitting some great drives – showing power and precision – ending with 20 points after 8 holes and winning his group. Harrison B secured 9 points and achieved third place.
In group 3, a strong performance from the Ryde School players meant they gained the win, but Tobi W achieved second place with 6 points after 7 holes.
At the end of the competition, TIFS secured a lead by 2 games to 1 against Ryde School.
Attention now turns to round 2 which will take place at Ryde Golf Club, in the next few weeks. Will TIFS be able to maintain their lead?
