GCSE Results Day 2020

On Thursday 20th August we welcomed back our 2015 cohort to receive their GCSE results. This year, unlike in previous years, pupils were awarded grades based on their work throughout the three year course and not through end of year exams.
We are delighted to report that every single pupil in the year group has achieved the grades they needed to secure a place at their chosen post-16 destination. This is no small achievement given the extraordinary level of aspiration that has been nurtured during their time at TIFS.
Over 50% of our pupils have been successful in gaining places to study A Levels, with over half of these choosing to continue their studies on the mainland at destinations as far flung as Truro College, Cornwall, and Hartpury College, Gloucester. Amongst those continuing their studies to A Level, five have been awarded scholarships to study at a selection of independent schools.
Many pupils have chosen to continue their education through apprenticeships, both on and off the Island. It is a matter of great pride that so many of our pupils had the confidence to apply for, and in many cases were accepted onto, prestigious programmes working for some of the most advanced companies in the country.
A number of our pupils have also chosen to pursue BTEC qualifications in a range of areas including maritime, musical, horticultural and sports industries.
The breadth of destinations is testament to the extraordinary opportunities a place at TIFS affords, and we are delighted to applaud the enthusiasm, passion and resilience shown by our wonderful 2015 cohort and to wish every one of them the very best for the future.
