Exploring Engineering

On Friday 28th February, Year 8 Viridis visited CECAMM Engineering College. We started with a classroom-based interactive activity all about the world of engineering. We explored the topic of engineering itself, and looked at the various companies on the island that work within this industry. The pupils then had a tour of classrooms and workshop spaces, exploring the worlds of robotics, welding, outboard engines, 3D printers, lathe machinery, composites and many more exciting processes.
The pupils learnt that the world of engineering is very vast, and almost everything we do has an engineering element. The prize challenge of working out what CECAMM stands for (Centre of Excellence for Composites, Advanced Manufacturing and Marine) went to Lillie H and Taylor-Blue R who were each awarded a very flash CECAMM Flask!
