Dr Stephanie Thompson, Governor

Stephanie Thompson is a Consultant Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience. She specialises in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the provision of therapeutic support for a wide range of mental health difficulties.
Stephanie achieved a Doctor of Philosophy degree from University College London in 2007. Her research at the prestigious Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in London involved collaboration with many famous names in Autism research and she is passionate about supporting the emotional development of children and young people.
She has provided Psychological consultation in a wide range of settings including Her Majesty’s Prison service, secondary education and the private sector. She was instrumental in the founding and running of the South Wight Support Group on the Isle of Wight branch of the National Autistic Society (NAS) which is run on a charitable basis and provides free information, support and advice for people living with ASD.
Stephanie is a core contributor to the Isle of Wight Educational Psychology Service where she provides ASD assessments for IOW children and families. She has also taught psychology for Undergraduate and AS-Level Psychology students, and is a qualified teacher of Science with Secondary Education teaching experience.
In her free time, Stephanie loves to walk with her dog and spend time with her friends. She has lived in London and Brighton, and travelled around the world.
